I did this sketch for my niece's birthday card. There is something about it that just screams "wild abandon"...I'm sure my sister will love that. I see her wearing it on an adventure in Italy. She is dancing (years from now) in the Piazza Navona drunk on vino, laughter and love...her own private Roman Holiday!

Day 114 - Backwards Down The Number Line

Let's be honest...summertime equals music and concerts and I can't think of anything more fun then singing and dancing my heart out with 25000 strangers. Maybe we should let musicians rule the world...love, unity and harmony....there's a Utopia to live for!

And what does one wear to such an event...a body suit with mesh details and silk cuffed walking shorts with draped pockets of course!

Day 113 - Bond Girl

So anyone that knows me knows that I love James Bond. I have been literally counting the days until they release the new theme song...waiting to find out who sings it is almost as good as the anticipation of Christmas morning. A good James Bond movie is like a great martini… It takes all the ingredients stirred (not shaken) together to make the perfect film.  And one of these key elements is the Bond Girl.  Here is my take...and probably not my last...on her.

The music swells, the crowd parts and there at the entrance to the casino, she appears. In fitted satin with a chiffon overlay and hand beaded sleeve and decolletaged....she's beautiful...mysterious....even dangerous...she is 007 perfection.

Day 111 - Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It's been a bit of a gap  since entries...and in the spirit of resolutions and new beginnings, I'm gonna give myself a break and say "that's ok!"

I have always found resolutions kinda funny. I use to make them "wrong". I thought if you were truly committed to something different why did you have to wait for the new year and declare it with the masses?  Safety in numbers perhaps?

Well, that was rather arrogant of me. Truth is, if someone waits to use Jan 1 as a launching pad to a new beginning, who am I to judge. Deciding to make a change can be hard enough without having others (or ourselves) doubt our intentions. 

Whatever the cause, be it the need for transformation or Baby New Year himself, I say go for it...declare your resolution and don't let the syncs, myself included, weigh you down. Here's to an amazing 2015 for us all!!!

And let this cotton, silk and chiffon dress with its asymmetrical hemline inspire all your dreams. (Too much? Who cares...it's the New Year!)

Day 109 - It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Today was a beautiful one in October. Gorgeous weather and blue skies. I was lucky enough to spend it with friends at a pumpkin patch. Kind of crazy how inspiration to can come at you. Rolling fields of green, orange and brown, complete sunflowers so big you expected them to come to life. I'm telling you, it was awesome!

So with that said, I give you color blocked rayon-viscous jersey paired with silk twill trousers.

Day 108 - Toughness

Of course if you add a plunging neckline you immediately go from tough to knockout!

Day 107 - Surprise!

Often times when I put pen to paper, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to get. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and in cases like tonight...I get a pleasant surprise. Perhaps this should be my mantra for life.

Day 106 - I'm baaaaack!

Much like a beloved TV show, it's autumn and I'm back from hiatus! 

I promise to be more frequent in my post this fall. A lot has happen since we last saw each other. I will fill you in a little at time as we move forward. For tonight, I will start with a word...fun. A conversation reminded me how important this is. It's October, one of my favorite months...Halloween...Scary movies and buckets of candy…What's not to love!

Speaking of sweetness...how about this candy-corn inspired number...waxed cotton with crocodile flats...yum!

Day 105 - Happy Birthday

So one of the many perks of living on the west coast is waking up to a bunch text messages and Facebook posts from friends and family in the time zones to the east. When we think of birthdays we imagine cake, candles and gifts....all good things...hint hint. :)  However, what I am present to this morning is how lucky I am to be blessed with wonderful people in my life. And this gift continues to give as I make amazing new friends here in Portland. I am so happy...thank you all!

So today I offer a sketch in two shades of  green, "my signature color".  Off-the-shoulder Merino wool top and a satin-lined, wool plaid wrap-skirt...Happy Birthday to me indeed!   

Day 104 - Love and Inspiration

Sometimes we can't see who we are to world because of the way we see ourselves. This blindness to our contribution has a certain poetic beauty all it's own.

Day 103 - Heatwave

Well it's August and it's hot outside! What is it about summertime that makes us love it so...heat and all? I think for myself it is the nostalgia. Remembering the summers of my youth when we'd play from dawn till dusk. The days were long and warm and we couldn't wait to get out and explore the world, even if it said universe was confined to our backyards....it was an adventure and we were along for the ride.

So it's my pledge to embrace this heat and allow it to transport me back to a time when life was simple and fun. Two things I bet we could all use a bit more of...who's up for that ride?
